It's the most wonderful time of the year! Join us for the annual Granger Township Tree Lighting as we welcome the holiday season with a festive community celebration!

Gather with family, friends, and neighbors to enjoy the magic of the season and celebrate this cherished Granger Township tradition.

This year's celebration will also feature our Christmas Diorama Contest, where community members bring their favorite holiday songs to life in creative miniature scenes!

2:30–4:30 PM | Ornament Making & Cookie Decorating

Enjoy festive activities in the church.

3:00–4:30 PM | Hot Chocolate & Donuts

Holiday treats available in the church.

3:00–4:30 PM | Visit with Santa 🎅

Children can visit and talk with Santa at the Historical Society.

2:30–4:45 PM | Historical Society Open House

Explore the Historical Society, participate in a family scavenger hunt, and enjoy the Christmas diorama display.

2:30–4:30 PM | Diorama Contest Voting

Cast your vote for your favorite diorama!

4:45 PM | Christmas Tree Lighting 🎄

Gather at Granger Park for the lighting of the community Christmas tree!

🎁 Christmas Diorama Contest

Let your creativity shine!

In keeping with this year's Sounds of Christmas theme, participants are invited to choose a favorite Christmas or Hanukkah song and bring it to life by creating a miniature scene from the song inside a shoebox!

Contest Rules & Divisions

📦 Shoebox Creations

Your diorama must be created in or on a shoebox. You may use the shoebox lid as a tray to display additional items in front of the box, but it may not extend more than 5 inches beyond the front of the shoebox.

Adding a roof is permitted, and items may be displayed inside the attic space or on the rooftop. However, the total height of the diorama, including the roof and any decorations, may not exceed 16 inches.

All items must be contained within or attached to the shoebox, its lid, or its roof.

Two Contest Divisions

• Elementary Division: Elementary-aged children

• Youth & Adult Division: Middle-school students, high-school students, and adults

  
  

Who Can Enter?

Participants must live, work, or attend school in Granger Township. There is a limit of one entry per household.

Adults may assist elementary-aged participants, but the ideas must be the children's own, and children must complete the majority of the work.

Saturday, November 21, 2026, 10:00 AM to Noon.

🏆 Voting & Prizes

Dioramas will be on display during the November 29 Tree Lighting celebration, and attendees are invited to vote for their favorite entry in each division!

Voting closes at 4:30 PM to allow time for counting.

One winner from each division will be selected by popular vote. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded during the tree lighting ceremony.
